“Pudong and the World”：Parallel Session of the 7th HQF to Open Soon
Theparallelsessionofthe7thHongqiaoInternationalEconomicForum(HQF)—PudongandtheWorld:High-StandardInstitutionalOpening-upForNewDevelopmentOpportunities(the“PudongParallelSession”)willbeheldattheNationalExhibitionandConventionCenter(Shanghai)onNovember6,2024.ThesessionishostedbyShanghaiMunicipalPeople'sGovernmentandMinistryofCommerceofthePeople'sRepublicofChina,andorganizedbyPudongNewAreaPeople'sGovernment.
Thethirdplenarysessionofthe20thCommunistPartyofChina(CPC)CentralCommitteeoutlinedaroadmapfordeepeningreformsandadvancingChinesemodernizationfromastrategicperspectivefornationaldevelopment.
BeingthepioneerinChina’sreformandopening-up,Pudong’seffortsinreformandopening-upinthenewerahavegainedincreasingattention.UnderHQF’sthemeof"High-standardOpening-upforUniversallyBeneficialandInclusiveEconomicGlobalization",andfollowingtheGuidelinetoSupporttheHigh-levelReformandOpening-upofPudongandBuildPudongintoaPioneerAreaforSocialistModernizationformulatedbytheCPCCentralCommitteeandtheStateCouncil,thesessionwillexplorewaystobetter,fasterandmoreproactively,alignwithhigh-standardinternationaleconomicandtraderulessuchasCPTPPandDEPA,andleveragePudong’sroleasa“testbed”forintegrationintoglobaleconomicgovernance,soastodeepeninstitutionalopening-upandfosternewadvantagesininternationalcooperationandcompetition.

ThisyearmarksthethirdanniversaryofPudong'sdesignationasaPioneerAreaforsocialistmodernization.
OnJuly15,2021,theGuidelinetoSupporttheHigh-levelReformandOpening-upofPudongandBuildPudongintoaPioneerAreaforSocialistModernizationwasissuedbytheCPCCentralCommitteeandStateCouncil,markingPudong’sentryintoanewchapterofreformandopening-upwithgreaterresponsibilities.
Overthepastthreeyears,thedevelopmentofthispioneerareahasbeenrobust,achievingnotableoutcomesininstitutionalopennessandpioneeringreforms.WhatliesaheadforPudongwhileitdeepensthereform?HowwillPudongpositionitselfwithinthenewinternationaltradeandeconomicorder?
